Norcross, GA — With many crucial upcoming elections, Young Democrats of Georgia (YDG) is partnering with Gwinnett County Young Democrats to host a 5K Fun Run on Saturday, July 23, 2016 to aid in its continuing efforts to elect Democrats in Georgia.

Each election cycle, YDG analyzes and targets specific districts where a Democrat could be elected within a five-point margin and joins forces with candidates and campaigns to hopefully seal their election. This year is especially pivotal as Georgia has been labeled a battleground state in the 2016 Presidential Election and as Democratic challengers, such as Jim Barksdale running for U.S. Senate, have proven themselves to be tough competition.

Sarah Beeson, 2016-2017 President of Young Democrats of Georgia, echoes this by saying, “Democrats in Georgia are facing a critical time as we see poll after poll showing the state making a more progressive shift. Hosting an event like this in Norcross helps us engage new voters, promote excellent candidates, and raise funds to do the work needed to turn Georgia blue in a fun environment.”

The run will begin at 8am and participants are asked to make a donation of $25. Candidates or group representatives interested in speaking or sponsoring the run should contact Sarah Beeson directly at
