Republicans in Congress are acting quickly in conjunction with President Trump to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), putting the healthcare of millions of Americans in jeopardy. Sign Young Democrats of Georgia’s petition to Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Senator David Perdue (R-GA) letting them know you support the ACA.

Dear Senators,

As your constituent, I am very upset with the proposal spearheaded by Republican senators to repeal and “replace” the Affordable Care Act, also referred to as Obamacare. Despite promising to repeal and “replace” the ACA, no concrete plan exists to ensure the nearly 20 million people insured through the program continue to receive health insurance.

The healthcare debate represents a conversation in values, ideology and our conceptions of America. As Democrats, we work together for the common good. As President Obama said, “It is that fundamental belief: I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper that makes this country work. It’s what allows us to pursue our individual dreams and yet still come together as one American family.”

Beyond this fundamental belief, I urge my representatives to vote nay to repealing the ACA because:

1) The ACA includes benefits and protections that prevent discrimination by insurance companies based on pre-existing conditions and gender discrimination, allows young adults stay on their parent’s plan until 26, and protects against unjustified rate increases.

2) The ACA has provided insurance to more than 20 million Americans and has directly reduced the uninsured rate in the United States.

3) Finally, the ACA expands Medicaid to cover more Americans and ensure each American has the opportunity to received healthcare.

Please vote nay and support Obamacare!
