Frequently Asked Questions or WHO can help me with ....?
1) I want to start a chapter. Who should I contact?
Starting a chapter is pretty easy in YDG. To get started, write to newchapter@georgiayds.org and our membership team will get right to you to help!
2) What is Young Democrats of Georgia?
Young Democrats of Georgia (YDG) is a partisan youth organization that involved young people in the Democratic Party. We set up Young Democrat chapters around the state at the High School, College & University, and County levels.
3) What are your goals for 2008?
In 2008, we are setting up new Young Democrat chapters in key areas to influence specific elections where the youth vote (18-34) will make the difference.
4) Like where/what? House District 13 in Rome was narrowly lost in 2006. We know if we can find and mobilize 140 new Young Democrats, we'll send a Democrat to the state house from District 13 in 2008. In Congressional District 12, John Barrow's district, only 1/5 of 100,000 young voters turned out for the 2006 election. If we can increase that amount, even by 5 or 6%, we'll guarantee that John Barrow will be sent back to Washington in 2009. 5) How does it work?
We find new Young Democrats who can find 5 of their friends register and go vote in the July Primary and the November General Election. In most of our key chapters, if we find 20 Young Democrats who till talk and engage 5 friends each, we've got the base of a Democratic takeover at the local level. It's not rocket science, it's not difficult, but it does take resources.
